Industry: Enterprise Software
Location: San Ramon, CA – onsite 5 days a week
Experience: 10+ years of project management
Type: Contract (senior level)
About This Role
Our client, a leading enterprise software company, is looking for a senior Project Manager to lead a mix of IT and business initiatives from its San Ramon, CA office. You'll own delivery of large, complex projects or a portfolio of smaller concurrent ones, working across business and technology teams to keep execution aligned with company priorities. This is a highly visible role: you'll be the trusted point of contact for executive stakeholders, and you'll need to be comfortable "managing up," framing decisions, surfacing risks early and keeping leadership informed.
What You'll Do
• Lead IT and business projects end to end, from initiation and planning through execution, testing, launch and post-launch support.
• Manage either one large, cross-functional project or a portfolio of smaller concurrent projects, balancing priorities, resources and timelines.
• Build and maintain integrated project plans, including scope, schedules, milestones, budgets, resource forecasts and success criteria.
• Run risk, issue and dependency management, plus scope and change control, and escalate early with clear impact analysis and recovery options.
• Manage up to executive stakeholders by leading steering committee meetings, preparing concise status reports and dashboards, and driving timely decisions.
• Align stakeholders across business units, IT, Finance, Operations, Legal, Procurement and third-party vendors, keeping ownership, handoffs and accountability clear.
• Translate business goals into actionable plans, working with business owners to define requirements, acceptance criteria and measurable outcomes.
• Apply Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery approaches as each initiative requires.
• Oversee vendor and partner delivery, including SOW tracking, deliverable acceptance and budget alignment.
• Drive continuous improvement in project governance, reporting standards and delivery practices.
What You Need
• 10+ years of project management experience, including leading both IT and business projects in an enterprise environment.
• A proven track record leading large projects or a portfolio of smaller ones, with multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Strong executive presence and communication skills, with demonstrated experience managing up to director, VP and C-level stakeholders.
• Deep command of project fundamentals: budgets, schedules, RAID logs, change control, resource planning and status reporting.
• Experience working in matrixed organizations and influencing without direct authority.
• Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence or ServiceNow.
• Excellent organization, problem-solving and prioritization skills in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to work onsite at the San Ramon, CA office five days a week.
Preferred Qualifications
• PMP certification (preferred but not required).
• Agile certifications (CSM, PMI-ACP or SAFe).
• Experience in enterprise software or technology companies.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology or a related field.
Role Expectations
• Serve as the single point of accountability for delivery across assigned projects or portfolio.
• Keep executive stakeholders informed with clear, concise updates and bring decisions to them early, with options.
• Deliver projects on schedule, within budget and to agreed scope, with issues flagged before they become escalations.
• Establish structured governance from day one: plans, RAID logs, status cadence and steering reviews.
• Work onsite in San Ramon five days a week as the visible, day-to-day lead for project teams and stakeholders.
• Operate independently as a senior resource with minimal supervision, across both IT and business initiatives.

• Execute changes and cutovers with minimal disruption to production, with tested rollback plans in place.
• Keep executive stakeholders informed on status, risks and costs, and bring decisions to them early, with options.
• Engage credibly with infrastructure, network, cloud and security engineers to resolve technical dependencies.
